Iyanuoluwa Aboyeji is a Nigerian entrepreneur and investor. He is a co-founder of Andela. He was the former managing director of Flutterwave. He has an estimated net worth of over N10 billion. He is currently in his early 30s.

Born to parents from Warri, Delta state and raised in Nigeria, Iyinoluwa graduated from the Loyola Jesuit College, Abuja, Class of 2007. He studied Legal Studies and Economics at the University of Waterloo in Ontario, Canada.

When he was 18, Iyinoluwa worked as an intern with the World Youth Alliance in the United Nations Headquarters. Then he went on to run one of Canada’s largest student owned publishing houses, Imprint Publications as President of the Board. In 2014, Aboyeji met up with Jeremy Johnson, an old friend, and they spoke about founding Andela, a talent accelerator that recruits and trains software developers and connects them with employers. It grew to be one of Nigeria’s best-known start-ups. It received a $24 million investment from Facebook founder Zuckerberg and Aboyeji helped build it to over $100 million market cap in two years. In 2016, he left Andela to start Flutterwave, a provider of technology and infrastructure solutions for digital payments across Africa. The company is a multimillion dollar company that has processed over $760 million through 7.5 million transactions for merchants in partnership with financial institutions across Africa. Iyinoluwa spends most of his time in Lagos, but in the last couple of months he has been taking educational classes in Silicon Valley and in other parts of the US. He has been focused on business development courses as well as technology courses. In July 2018, he got married to his girlfriend.

 

2. Mark Essien

Mark Essien is an entrepreneur, a software developer, and a startup investor. He is the founder of Hotels.ng, a successful online hotel booking platform in Nigeria. Mark desired to build a technology driven business that will survive in Nigeria. Luckily, this was the time Jumia and Konga was making waves in the internet space, so he felt that the hotel and travel industry in Nigeria could use some innovation.

He created the first version of Hotels.ng in 2012 which was just a list of hotels at the time. After observing the traffic generated by the site in a short while, he was convinced it was time to move back to Nigeria and work on his dream. Fortunately, this was the time Jason Njoku was looking for a viable internet business to invest in through Spark.ng. So Spark.ng made an initial investment of $75,000 in Hotels.ng for the business to kick off operations in Lagos. Later, after observing their business model and the leadership style of Mark Essien, Spark invested another $150,000 in Hotels.ng. The funds helped Hotels.ng grow and expand their hotel listings.

Abiola Olaniran is the founder and CEO of Gamesole, one of the first Gaming companies in Africa and is also Nigeria’s highest paid Windows Game developer.

Gamsole, a company he founded in 2012, has built mobile games with over 10 million downloads, both locally and internationally, from the Windows Phone store.
