Breaking News: Ole Sacked, new interim manager appointed Following Manchester United’s 4-1 loss at Vicarage Road to Watford, the Manchester United’s board has sacked Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Ole signed a three year deal in July, but recent bad performances led to doubts by the club and fans. After embarrassing defeats of 5-0 to Liverpool and 2-0 to Manchester rivals, Manchester City, United fans called for his sack but United’s higher ups decided to give him more time to improve. But after Saturday’s trashing was the the straw that broke the camel’s back as he was sacked the next day. Ole succeeded Jose Mourinho at United in 2018, but has not managed to win even one silverware for the English club, been his closest in the 2020/2021 Europa finals where he lost on penalties to Villarreal.
His assistant and another Manchester United legend Carrick has been put as the interim manager until a new manager arrives.Reports say that former Tottenham and current PSG manager, Mauricio Pochettino is seen as the most suitable replacement for Ole. Pochettino’s PSG are currently top of the tabke in Ligue 1, twelve points off second place with also a chance at Champions League round off 16 qualifications.Another manager rumored as his replacement is Ajax manager, Erik Ten Hag. Even though his contract expires in 2023, the Dutchman is said to be open to a move to Manchester United.
