Chelsea Win The Club World CupChelsea FC has won it’s third trophy under Thomas Tuchel. The former Dortmund and PSG manager, came into the club last year following Frank Lampard’s sack and he has since led the blues to four finals, winning three of them including the Euefa Champions League, Euefa Super Cup and now the the Club World Cup.
The final between Chelsea FC and the Brazilian champions of South America, Palmeiras was held at Mohammad Bin Zayed stadium, Abudhabi where Chelsea club owner Roman Abramovic and ex Chelsea players Petre Cech and John Terry were present to cheer up their successors.
The game started off well for both teams but non of them managed to find the back of the net at half time.
Chelsea finally managed to break the deadlock, thanks to a powerful header from Lukaku in the 54th minute. Callum Hudson Odoi put in a dangerous left footed cross into the box and the Belgian who also scored against All Hilal in the semi-finals, finished it off cleanly.
However, that lead didn’t hold for long as Palmeiras striker, Raphael Veiga scored from the penalty spot ten minutes later to level up the score line.The game remained open and there were expectations about a penalty shootout but Chelsea were awarded a penalty in the second half of the extra time (117th minute) and Kai Havertz coolly finished slot it past Weverton to make Chelsea the World Champions.This marks the third trophy won by Thomas Tuchel in a little bit above a year, but he isn’t the one who is most happy as Chelsea Captain, Cesar Azpilicueta has finally won all trophies at Chelsea, the Spaniard has won all trophies available at club level for Chelsea except the Club World Cup which the club lost in 2013.
