EFL Semi-Final QualificationsThe 2021/22 EFL Cup quarter final games were concluded today, the last six teams battled for the remaining three slots left for the EFL Cup semi-finals, with Tottenham Hotspur hosting Westham, Liverpool playing against Leicester and Chelsea visiting Brentford Community Stadium to battle their West London neighbors.Well, unlike the first game of the quarter finals where Arsenal battered Sunderland 5-1, The Tottenham vs Westham game ended 2-1 with Steve Bergwijn scoring in the 29th minute, the assist from Hoejbjerg. Nikola Vlasic set up Jarod Bowen just three minutes later for the equaliser, but it didn’t last long as Bergwijn turned provider this time around to assist Lucas Moura to give Spurs the lead once again two minutes later, ending the game 2-1.The Liverpool vs Leicester gamewas slot more dramatic as Leicester started off early with Jamie Vardy scoring in the 9th and 13th minute to give Leicester a two goal lead, Oxlade-Chamberlaine pulled one back in the 19th minute before a James Maddison goal.Minamino assisted Diogo Jota in the 68th minute before scoring his in 5 minutes after 90 minutes to put the game 3-3, taking the fixture into extra time then penalties where Liverpool won 5-4.
Brentford vs Chelsea didn’t see a first half goal as Brentford defended quite well, keeping Chelsea at bay but that didn’t stop the European Champions as they kept dominating the game until the Chelsea substitutes rules up the game. Brentford captain, Pontus Jansson scored an own goal off Recee James cross in the 80th minute giving Chelsea the first goal of the game.
Before Jorginho scored from the penalty spot after Brentford goalkeeper, Alvaro Fernandez tripped Christian Pulisic in the 85th minute to end the game 2-0.The EFL Semi-Final draw was carried out minutes later with Chelsea facing London Rivals, Tottenham and Arsenal facing Liverpool.
