Why Qatar SC Terminated Youcef Belaili’s Contract Youcef Belaili is an Algerian winger playing for Qatari side Qatar Sports Club, the 29 year old winger joined Qatar SC some time ago and has 17 goals and 3 assists in 24 games.
But surprisingly, the AFCON 2019 winner’s contract was terminated by his and coincidentally, this was after Youcef scored the winning goal in the FIFA Arab cup semi-final between Algeria and Qatar to exit the world cup winners and sending his country into the finals against Tunisia.The match was full of dramatic twists as Benlamri Djamel gave Algeria the lead, but the the Qatari National were lucky as Mohammed Muntari slipped in a controversial goal just seven minutes from stoppage time.
The goal took a long time to approved by the VAR making the game 1-1. In the 104th minute though, Algeria got a penalty and Belaili was called to take it. His first kick was saved by the Qatari goalkeeper but he calmly shot the rebound back into the net to let his country take the lead 2-1. The next day though, his contract with the club was terminated, causing fans to make speculations as to whether it was because he eliminated Qatar from the Arab Cup tournament. But that was cleared by both club and player as both parties have said peaceful goodbyes on their social media pages. Reports also show that the Algerian winger has been heavily linked to a move to a European club which could have been the reason for his contract been terminated.
